Did a little test. Here is what I did... Or "Here are the results from a Stockholm jury"... hehe...

0) Made a backup of my DISK2 [channel list files] and PLUGINS to my PC HDD!!!

1) Delete all:
-channels,
-plugins, [Put in a memory stick with the KGD 4890 patch.bin in]
-Reset to factory values and reboot is automatic.

2) Format application area.

3) Update from USB to 4890 KGDAz FW!!!

4) Settings -> as needed per your setup... Language, Time, Resolution etc. etc.

5) HOME -> Plug-ins -> red button -> azboxworld.com link -> OpenXCAS -> OK;

5a) Exit -> OpenXCAS -> Download Executable -> azboxworld link -> install the latest MultiCAS!

6) FileZilla Client on my PC -> reconnect to AZbox HD -> go to MultiCAS folder of my AZbox HD and delete openxcas.conf and both splitterdata files.

6a) Drag and drop from the backup on my PC HDD to AZbox HD MultiCAS folder: those three files plus cccam and priocaid cfg files.

6c) OpenXCAS -> Camd Setup -> MultiCAS -> Smartcard Interface -> Smartcard Splitter and CS -> make sure your peers are there or load it all via the blue button and once they are there, "login", to make sure it's all working, then save via red button.

7) Plug-ins -> red button -> AZTECH link -> add TechSat_AZK plugin. Exit.

7a) Plug-ins -> TechSat_AZK -> Download MultiCAS keys. Exit.

7b) Reboot!

8) FileZilla -> Reconnect -> restore your PLUGINS. Make sure you give all the necessary file CHMOD to 755, as largely described in my "Alternative Guide to AZbox HD"!!!

Here I started with the KGD stuff...

9) Plugins -> Panel KGD -> Instalar Extras -> Listas -> Lista Motor -> [reload?] OK.

Beware, the EXIT button is not used to "go back to previous menu" but use the MENU button instead [to the left of the OK button]!!!

Btw, this didn't work for me => "Error. Number of satellites = 0" message appeared. Besides, it's a bad list, full of duplicate satellites, missing ones and so on... Do your own, as I did before. Now, I restored it from my "Backup"! It still didn't work, for some reason...

So, I did the MaZ thing and updated it all from the Kingsofsat website... That worked beautifully [except the "reboot" command]!!!

Oh, btw, Morser, sometimes the "Pilot" is incorrect, in the list made by Kingofsat editing. One has to change it to get the signal. Is there anything you can do to correct it, please?

9a) Reboot via the remote controller, if you must, like I did!

9b) If necessary, sort out your "DiSEqC" settings as per your setup... [static, i.e. various LNB settings possibilities with DiSEqC 1.0 or 1.1... or motorised; delete the satellites you don't need, Favs you won't have in your setup etc. etc.]

10) Plugins -> Panel KGD -> installed whatever I fancied, including the "getepg" [in "Scripts": wait a bit, it lasts a while 'till it's downloaded and then loaded]... Just have fun, see what's what, test different things, it all installed correctly for me, whatever I chose...

Mind, not all the plugins etc. were the latest [for instance, Streamrip is old] but one can do well with all that is included in the KGD Panel!

Not sure what df is... - it seems something to do with D+ EPG on Astra...?

Or what one gets with ifconfig? Info re. current ne settings etc.? More info, please...

I activated "Take Control" in "Configuraciones". After that I activated "TV y Cams" and "Optimizacion Multimedia" in "Take Control Sigma86xx". Go to the panel and choose from low to High [Alta]. I chose "Media" [Medium].

Sadly, when I got out by pressing the EXIT button, it was all frozen and the LCD said "EPG Finish". Nothing could be done but reboot...

When I rebooted I couldn't get into the PanelKGD and I only had "Now and Next" EPG, sadly... Strange. I rebooted again and reloaded the EPG via the KGD plugin. Then it worked. D+ Espana was a 3-day long list [I think]... Not so for $ly Italia, though. Or $ly UK. Only "now & next".

[B]My general impression:

It was all leaner, meaner and just generally speaking BETTER!!!!:) Faster zapping, more responsive Menu etc. etc.;)

BRAVO KGD TEAM, GREAT EFFORT!!!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT!!!:luck:

[Opensat don't deserve you!!!!:mad:]

Streaming from laptop into AZ HD is superb!

Recording, unfortunately, doesn' work and in a "normal" 4890 it does.

It'll get better, as they had no time to test because of the holidays, so this time we are all beta-testers... ;)

Thanx to Leitz and guys from AZboxHD.es forum, this will help with AZbox HD performance!!!

0) I have a USB memory stick attached to my AZbox HD.
(If you have an HDD attached to yours - the same applies, of course, with minor difference.)
I have used AZ HD to format it to Ext3.
HOME -> Settings -> Storage -> choose the device you want to format -> Format. Reboot occurs.

1) Download "swap.rar" file and decompress it on your HDD.
You'll get a "swap" folder. In it you'll find a file and a PLUGINS folder.

2) The file S2swap.sh is a script and it must be put in AZbox HD folder DISK2/etc/start.d
CHMOD it to 755.

3) Inside the PLUGINS folder there is a swapon folder (with 2 files in it). It goes to AZbox HD Plugins folder.
CHMOD its contents to 755.

3a) Depending on whether one has an HDD or a USB memory stick, one edits the swapon.sh (in Plugins).

To edit the files below, use a Notepad2 or another UNIX editor, not Notepad or Wordpad etc.

From line no. 33, we find the following:

#choose device, where to create swapfile
#SWAPDEVICE=/DATA/hdb1
SWAPDEVICE=/DATA/usb1/sda1

If you have an HDD attached to AZ HD put the # sign in front of the USB line and remove it from the other one.

Then, we edit the file size for the SWAP partition here:

SWAPFILE=swapfile
#SWAPSIZE=204800
SWAPSIZE=102400

The first one creates a 200MB and the second one a 100MB SWAP file. Do as above, to serve your needs.

Reboot.

Go to HOME -> File Manager and check your USB or HDD. You should see a 100 or 200MB SWAP partition...

Every time AZbox HD is started the script creates the file.

My machine is now more stable, faster and the EPG plugin works just fine, with no freezes. Patience!:cool:

I've downgraded to this from the current 0.9.5020 as the zapp speed was agonizingly slow, this one is definately faster to change channel although it's still slow compared compared to my dm500s or openbox s9...this firmware is def a improvement for me and the web interface plugin now works which woudn't on the latest firmware.

although I have noticed that the remote doesn't seem to always register when pressed...has anyone else noticed this ?

Still after that it is still a much better firmware so far and channels seem to decrypt alot quicker on sky

Priority Manager 1.8 installed and swap file switched on

I've also added a few lines into the Multicas ignore.list ( i'm on sky 28.2 ) this apparantly helps filter out ident streams that arn't required

X: { 09 60 }
X: { 09 61 }

I'm sure it has helped, and I have also added a line in for the priocaid.cfg also for sky which I think was the line which again makes sure sky 28.2 has priority first or though since that's all I tune into may not make a big difference

0x63

The menues on this firmware a grahically a little simpler but I sure that's partly why it's quicker :)

The media player still works great and all of my MKV files even at 15mbit/sex still stream fine from the network (CIFS) ..although it looks like I have lost the audio/DTS select option on the remote as there is now only one option to pick from..

Although a move back firmware wise it's a move forward performance wise :D

Is prio [and ignore] now really working in MultiCAS? 'Cause it didn't use to... and we weren't listened to...

I forgot to ask you: you are using KGD 4890 + PM 1.8.

How do they behave with each other?

I haven't yet had the time to try.

yes they seem to work really well together, been very stable now for 24hrs...I was amazed last night when I was able to record a high def channel without single clitch :D ....but I have also made changes to priocaid.cfg and ignore.list so this may be the cause for that...I will disable these later and see if I can record clitch free.

Record to what? USB or built-in or NAS?

Thanx!:cool:

currently I record to a sata built in hardrive, playback starts straight away which is nice compared to streaming from the networkl and you can skip fwd/backward without any pauses or caching delays...very smooth.

Record to what? USB or built-in or NAS?

Using the FW + PM 1.8 + GetEPG 2.5 + AZK key plugin etc. etc.

Working fairly well... Must try more things with it...
